Studies on feeding behavior of Sangai deer (Rucervus eldii eldii) in Keibul Lamjao national park, Manipur (India)

The Sangai deer (Rucervus eldii eldii) is an endangered species which found only in KeibulLamjao National Park, Manipur (India) with area of 40 km2. Selection observation point and direct method were utilized to record certain behavioral pattern shown by the deer. Determination food resources carried out identified feed during hour. finding present study shows that activities notice more morning (dawn) than evening (dusk). most favorable Zizania latifolia (Kambong), Pragmitis karka (Tou), Saccharum munja (Khoimom), Carex cruciata (Humdang), Learsia hexandra (Hup), Alpinanigra (Pullei) Hydechiumcoronarium (Loklei). Amongst species, preferable while some individuals seen consuming ashes (Tanggoi) observation. Intrusion domestic animals within park may lead severe calamities then spread many harmful diseases its inhabitants. Shyness animal sensitive behaviors was observed. Questionnaire surveys among respondents. result suggested status feeding must be taken care so there should not any alteration or changes their behavior due intrusion, local vegetables collector disturbances.
